Welcome Back!

1416652793

Hey there Fall! Hello rain! Oh hi, blog!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much, Fashion Focus Chicago and the lead up to it kept me away from the blog for a bit. It was an amazing week! Do a quick search for "Fashion Focus Chicago 2011" and you'll see all the best of Chicago Fashion!

"Making it Work" is based on the idea that "it" may not be 100% perfect but we can make "it" work!

Finding the beauty, fun, and fashion in imperfections - perfect is boring, quirks and piccadillys are memorable and totally rad!

During all of the craziness last week it began to rain and I snapped one of my most favorite pictures. It's garbage in the street but in its own way it's so very pretty. I would love to make fabric with this print!

My only regret? I was so taken by how pretty the garbage was that I didn't think to pick it up and put it in a trash can later! But it's in my mind and since then I've been cleaning up Chicago's streets when and where I can...doing my best to "make it work"!

Happy Fall!

Rainy Good 'Mornin calls for Cozy Sweaters!

On rainy fall mornings getting up and at 'em can be hard. Wearing cozy sweaters keeps me going! My fave this season is my Victoria Cardigan available at kaightshop.com. You can FLIP™ it and adjust the hooks and eyes to wear it tons of ways! My other fave is the Val Cardigan (also shown below styled with a great vintage hat and our knit leggings). In Chicago? I'll have the Val and more available for special order at our Florodora trunk show next Friday!

I <3 Needlepoint

1568795892

Not only do I love the look, but thanks to my amazingly talented Grandma, I love to needlepoint as well!

Grandma Inez taught me to needlepoint this summer and I've caught the bug! I've even started making my own canvases!

To thank her I'm needlepointing this thank you note...

Crafts with Grandma Inez make up some of my most special memories.

IC as we like to call her is one of the most 'stylin ladies I know... she also taught me to knit, a skill to which I owe my career!

Do you have any family traditions and crafts that you hope to continue and pass on? I'd love to hear about them!
